QSL Connect is built so that your information stays on your device. This page explains what the apps and this website do and don’t collect.
The apps (Windows and Android)
Stored on your device only
- Your callsign, DMR ID, server choice, settings, contacts, logbook and call history.
- Your BrandMeister password, only if you choose “Remember”, and then only in encrypted form. Backups you export never include your password.
- An activity log used for troubleshooting. It never contains your password.
Services the apps connect to
- BrandMeister — to log in and carry audio and call information. This is how the app works; your account is governed by BrandMeister’s own terms.
- RadioID.net — to look up names, places and flags for DMR IDs and callsigns. Results are cached on your device for 30 days.
- Open-Meteo and NOAA — for weather and space-weather data, using the location or grid square you provide.
Android permissions
- Microphone — to transmit your voice when you press PTT.
- Location (optional) — only if you choose GPS for weather and distance.
- Notifications and foreground service — to keep your radio link running with the screen off and to show a Disconnect action.
QSL Connect does not sell your data and does not include advertising.
This website
qslconnect.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies and collects usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, as described in Google’s policy. You can block it with your browser’s privacy settings or an extension such as Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The site does not use advertising. If you choose to donate, you are sent to Stripe, PayPal, Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee, which process your payment under their own privacy policies. This site never receives or stores your card details.
Your choices
You can delete all QSL Connect data by uninstalling the app (and, on Windows, removing the %LOCALAPPDATA%\QSLConnect folder).
