What you’ll need

A callsign

QSL Connect is for licensed amateur radio operators. You enter your own callsign in the setup wizard.

A DMR ID

Register for a free 7-digit DMR ID at RadioID.net.

A BrandMeister login

Create a BrandMeister account and set a Hotspot Security password in SelfCare › Profile.

Is QSL Connect really free?

Yes. The app is free to download and use. If it’s useful to you, you can support development on Ko-fi to help cover hosting, new features and fixes.

Do I need a radio or a hotspot?

No. QSL Connect connects to BrandMeister over the internet and uses your computer or phone as the microphone and speaker.

What do I need to get started?

An amateur radio callsign, a free 7-digit DMR ID from RadioID.net, and a BrandMeister account with a Hotspot Security password (BrandMeister SelfCare › Profile). Close other apps that use the same DMR ID before connecting.

Where is my information stored?

On your own device. Your callsign, DMR ID, settings, contacts and logbook never leave your device, apart from the lookups the app makes to talk to BrandMeister and public data sources. Your password is only saved if you tick “Remember”, and then only in encrypted form. See the privacy policy.

Windows shows a SmartScreen warning. Is that normal?

Windows may warn about newer apps that it hasn’t seen many downloads of yet. If you downloaded QSL Connect from this site, you can choose “More info” and then “Run anyway”.

Can I use more than one device?

BrandMeister allows one connection per DMR ID at a time, so disconnect on one device before connecting on another. Your backup file lets you move your logbook and settings between Windows and Android.
